An exercise ECG is a test where we continuously monitor your heart rhythm during exercise on a treadmill. Although it is more commonly used to assess chest pain, coronary disease and shortness of breath, we will often use this test to induce the abnormal heart rhythm in patients with exercise-induced palpitations. The test takes about 20-30 minutes. It is advisable to avoid a heavy meal prior to the test and to wear comfortable clothing and running shoes for the test.
