Dr. Tonchev is a specialist cardiologist currently undertaking his clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is also involved in several research projects focused on atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardias. He has presented his research work at local and international conferences and had previously been awarded for best presentations.

Dr. Tonchev completed his medical studies at the Medical University of Varna (Bulgaria) in 2013. He completed his advanced cardiology training and a one-year fellowship in clinical electrophysiology and device management at Hadassah Hebrew-University Medical Center (Jerusalem, Israel). He completed EHRA (European Heart Rhythm Association) training course on cardiac pacing, ICD, and cardiac resynchronization in 2019 (Vienna, Austria) and the Monaco-USA Arrhythmia Course organized by the Princess Grace Hospital of Monaco and the University of Pennsylvania USA in Monaco.
