We are very excited to announce that the AF and Arrhythmia Clinic has started.
The AF and Arrhythmia Clinic is a exciting new initiative from the Department of Cardiology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. It is a rapid access public cardiology clinic that focuses on the management of patients with newly diagnosed arrhythmias and patients with newly diagnosed Atrial Fibrillation. With short waiting times and accessibility via Fax and the On-line Web referral form via this website, we will quickly establish whether a patient’s symptoms are caused by an important arrhythmia. If so, will discuss management options with the patient and formulate a individualised treatment plan with the patient. The team is highly experienced in arrhythmia management and consists of Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist Dr Geoff Lee and Dr Alex McLellan, Ms Mandy Graham our Arrhythmia Nurse Consultant and our Electrophysiology Fellow.
What do we see?
All arrhythmias are managed via this clinic, including Atrial fibrillation, Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) and Ventricular Tachycardia (VT) and Bradyarrhythmias. In addition we see referrals for consideration of Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators (ICD), Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy (CRT). A comprehensive range of investigative and treatment options can be accessed via the clinic, including all types of catheter ablation and device implantation.
Clinic appointments last for half an hour and includes:
Sometimes an echocardiogram may also be indicated. If this is the case, we will arrange for it to be performed prior to the clinic appointment so that we can have all the important information when we see you. If further tests are needed, we will liaise with the patient’s GP and help in arranging these tests. If you have had previous results such as an echocardiogram or a holter monitor please make sure your doctor attaches this to your referral.
